In her work,Sonia Leimer deals with questions about the foundations of our perception, which are formed on the basis of individual, historical and media-influenced patterns of experience. Spaces and objects that were created in specific historical contexts undergo a transformation that makes history and social change tangible.

Urban spaces are at the heart of Sonia Leimer's work. Her sculptures, videos and installations move between real places, imagined settings and undefined dimensions such as galaxies. The artist's works scatter clues and traces without arriving at a finalized identity, so that they can be constantly reinterpreted as visual puzzles.
