Katja Seiferts Kindergarten beeindruckt durch sein innovatives Konzept ebenso wie durch großes Gefühl und Poesie. In einem scheinbar „schwerelosen“ Raum, der nur durch zylindrische Körper und fließende Ebenen strukturiert wird, entsteht ein Freiheitsgefühl, das Kindern höchste Individualität und Autonomie Ihrer Entscheidungen zugesteht.
Raumforschen
In der faszinierenden, radikal offenen Struktur dieses Kindergartens scheinen zylindrische Körper gleichsam zu schweben. Sie beinhalten, als einziges Fixum, die essentiellen Funktionen wie Sanitäreinrichtungen, Erschließungen und Mini-Rückzugszellen. Der übrige diese Körper umspülende Raum, subtil durchwachsen von Rampen und Ebenen, steht den Kindern zum Erforschen und Entdecken Ihrer „eigenen“ Welt zur Verfügung.

“In what kind of building would children like to spend time? How much space do they need and how would their favorite place look like? I didn´t want to create a strict teric order, I want a place wich is open for a lot of functions and works by interacting.
Thats the reason for the structure of my building. There are three ranks which only get a kind of organisation through diverse cylinders. These Cylinders contain the essential functions like staricase, toilett, kitchen and strech by the first etage till uppermost etage. The position of the single cylinder creates different zones and never seperates the space really, a whole play level originates for the children. Additionally a "height play" is created by medium ramps and offers therefor different space impressions. All this should enable the children to create own rooms. A space to explore and investigate. For themself to search for their favorite place, whether they prefer being alone or being in a group. It works as a town for children which can change with theri actions over and over again. An urban space within a building which is transported by its transparency outwardly and makes this play within the space outside perceptible.”
Die Arbeit enstand im Wintersemester 2008/2009 und ist ein Ergebnis aus dem Semesterprojekt KIGA – Ein Kindergarten für Linz.
