The University of Arts Linz sees itself as an institution embedded in society and the world. This means that it thinks globally and locates itself locally and cultivates internationality and solidarity as basic attitudes.

Internationalization forms one of the foundations for the strategic orientation of the University of Arts Linz (more about at: profile)

It takes place under three main aspects:

For the University of Arts Linz, internationality is an attitude that goes far beyond concrete internationalization measures. Embedding and influencing social issues through creative-artistic production and reflection are central principles in teaching, exploration and research of the arts / EEK, design and research. Complementary to this, the outreach of the work at the university to regional, national and international as well as academic and practical communities, especially in schools, is a guiding principle.

The internationalization of the university goes hand in hand with the strengthening of its external image, brand and public relations work. Promoting the international mobility of students and teaching staff is only possible if international visibility is ensured. The University of Art and Design also strives to establish itself regionally as an international institution in people's minds. It is therefore a declared goal to network locally.

With its strong expertise in the fields of media technologies, media art, design and media cultural studies, the University of Arts Linz does not see itself as a mere user in the context of the current digitalization push. Rather, it sees it as its social mission to support non-commercial tools and innovative applications that promote a non-proprietary use of digital technologies in the sense of open science and open education and serve the arts and design with their own logic.

At our university, there are already numerous activities, initiatives and projects on the topic of sustainability - starting with a critical standpoint in teaching, student projects, sharing projects of the ÖH through to waste separation systems and energy-saving settings in the building. Sustainability is also strategically supported as a cross-cutting issue and taken into account in decisions.
By joining the Alliance of Sustainable Universities in Austria, the University of Arts Linz is once again underlining its goal of contributing to a sustainable and future-proof society.

The University of Arts Linz has set itself the goal of opening up Open University to society in the sense of an anti-discriminatory attitude and practice. This means creating structures that make it possible to do justice to the different biographical, gender, cultural, ethnic, religious, economic and social backgrounds of people who (want to) study or work at the University of Art and Design.
The aim is to recognize mechanisms of exclusion and increase accessibility, including for people with disabilities, in all areas of the University of Arts Linz.

The University of Arts Linz welcomes its international students, international staff and official guests from all over the world. Particularly in the context of international activities, the University of Arts Linz strives to promote, implement and communicate openness, a willingness to integrate and intercultural dialog.

In the Gender Equality Plan, the University of Arts Linz commits to the development and expansion of gender and diversity studies and stipulates the integration of subject-specific teaching in gender and diversity studies in all curricula Working Group for Equal Treatment.

The aim is to increase diversity at the University of Arts Linz and to recognize and promote the acceptance of a pluralistic society.
