"Technology for Girls" is specifically designed for girls between the ages of six and ten. In this course, which lasts one semester, these future young women are introduced to the secrets of technology. The course takes place over the course of the semester on ten days, each lasting three hours, and is held in a children’s workshop set up specifically for this purpose.
The course instructor is Mag. Kristina Seitz, an educator specializing in “Visual Arts,” “Textile Crafts,” and “Technical Crafts” (in training).

Objectives and Content

• The girls are encouraged to overcome their fear of technology.
• Gender stereotypes are to be broken down.
• The girls will learn how to use tools safely and correctly.
• Various materials are worked with using the appropriate tools.
• The goal is to spark an interest in technology and hands-on work.
• The girls are introduced to specialized machinery.
• Spatial awareness is practiced.
• The girls experience the process of bringing plans and their own ideas to life.
• The result is small, manageable projects that enhance the sense of accomplishment.

The course instructor is Mag. Kristina Seitz, an educator specializing in “Art Education,” “Textile Crafts,” and “Technical Crafts.” The course is supported by students majoring in vocational education who observe the class.
