Sabine Jelinek, teacher of painting and graphic arts, as curator of the public art space "Sternenpassage" in the MuseumsQuartier Vienna, invites you to an exhibition and catalog presentation.

On November 13, a selection of Michael Höpfner's works will be presented in Sternenpassage in the MuseumsQuartier, accompanied by the presentation of Lumen Zine Michael Höpfner / Issue 13.

The overarching theme of Michael Höpfner's artistic oeuvre can be encapsulated in the phrase "I can only see the word on foot". Over the past three decades, he has traversed mountainous and steppe landscapes across Europe, Asia and Africa on foot, subsequently processing these experiences through the medium of photography, drawing, and installation. The scale and distance of these places are often unclear, as is the precise nature of the landscapes themselves. Höpfner's photographs open up a view of the world that remains hidden to most of us. They depict a landscape that could easily be mistaken for a distant planet.
