Artist Talk mit Willem Oorebeek

Plastische Konzeptionen lädt zum Künstlergespräch mit Willem Oorebeek. 

Willem Oorebeek (*1953, lives and works in Brussels) is interested in information technology and works with various reproduction techniques. He focuses intensively on the transformation of printed information through reflection, projection, and display, with a particular emphasis on the mechanisms of representation. 

He studied painting, printmaking, and drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Oorebeek has held various teaching positions, including at the Jaan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht from 1989 to 1996, at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, at the University of the Arts in Hamburg, Germany, and in 2012 at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria. From 2008 to 2020, Willem Oorebeek was a co-founder, lecturer, and mentor of the WIELS Residency Program.

In 1997, Willem Oorebeek, together with Aernout Mik, designed the Dutch Pavilion at the 47th Venice Biennale in Italy. He has published numerous artist books, including Willem Oorebeek. MetZonderKOP (2005) and Joelle Tuerlinckx, Willem Oorebeek. IMAGE, or WITH ONE FOOT IN REALITY (2004). Among his numerous solo exhibitions, the most notable include those held in 1988 and 2001 at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, in 1994 at Witte de With in Rotterdam, 2008 at Culturgest in Lisbon, and 2025 at WIELS, Brussels.
