21. November 2025, 14.00 Uhr IC lecture room, Hauptplatz 23
Die Abteilungen Philosophie & Interface Cultures laden zum Gastvortrag von Mirt Komel.
The lecture addresses the cultural phenomena of videogames as contemporary Gesamtkunstwerk, which encompasses not only the classical artworks (architecture, sculpture, painting, music, poetry, theatre, opera) but also those specific for the "age of mechanical reproduction" (photography, film, tv-series), as well as an element peculiar only to them, immersive interactivity. The lecture will, besides giving the theoretical groundwork for such a conception of videogames in general — or at least a certain portion of them -- demonstrate the validity of such an approach on a very specific case-study, namely, Yoko Taro's Nier series, especially Nier:Automata (Square Enix, 2017).
