As of 1 October 2019, the position of
Rector
of the University of Art and Design Linz will become vacant and is to be filled in accordance with the Austrian Federal Act on the Organization of the Universities and their Studies (Universities Act of 2002, Federal Gazette. I No. 120/2002 as amended). The term of office is four years from 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2023; an extension is possible upon re-election.
The University of Art and Design Linz is a university of the arts with an international character, offering a diverse range of artistic, artistic-pedagogical and scientific study programs that are embodied in the Institutes of Fine Arts and Cultural Studies, Art and Education, Media Design, as well as Space and Design. The IFK (International Research Center for Cultural Studies) complements the cultural research activities of the university and is headquartered in Vienna. Currently 1420 students from 66 countries are enrolled at the University of Art and Design Linz, whose staff comprises 130 full-time equivalents in the artistic and scientific disciplines as well as 90 full-time equivalents in organization and administration. The 4 Institutes offer 11 bachelor and 13 master programs, 1 diploma program, as well as 1 doctoral program; in keeping with the development and organization plan, the programs promote the reinforcement of the University’s profile, which prioritizes the thematic focuses “intermediality”, “space strategies” and “artistic-scientific research”. The University of Art and Design Linz is supported at both regional and international levels by a close-knit network of cultural, scientific and economic partnerships.
The Rector of the University of Art and Design Linz should be a personality with international experience and the skills required to serve as the organizational and economic manager of a university. Applicants for this position are expected to meet these criteria:
Applications should comprise extensive information with regard to the stated qualification requirements and should in particular include comprehensive documentation of previous work experience, proof of organizational skills, ideas regarding the exercise of the position of Rector in connection with the current profile and further development of the University of Art and Design Linz.
