Soeben ist die vierten Ausgabe des Magazins „Urbanogram - Journal of the Built Environment“ mit dem Titel "Will Spring be far?" erscheinen.
Der Titel leitet sich von einem Gedicht von Percy Shelley mit dem Namen "Ode to the West Wind" ab. Darin wird die Frage gestellt: "If Winter comes, will Spring be far behind?". Dementsprechend rückt die diesjährige Ausgabe einen positiven Ausblick in die Zukunft in den Vordergrund, gleichzeitig dient der Blick in die Vergangheit der Inspiration und Refelexion.
Die Beiträge in der diesjährigen Ausgabe stammen von jungen internationalen Architekturschaffenden und Akademiker*innen u.a. auch fünf Studierenden / Absolvent*innen der Kunstuni Linz und BASEhabitat: Ania Chorzepa, Kaarel Kuusk, Paige Michutka, Prarthana Murali, Rikunj Shah.
Urbanogram: Journal of the Built Environment ist ein Projekt, das Architekturtheoretiker und Architekten aus aller Welt zusammenbringt, indem es regelmäßig ihre Texte über historische Stadträume im zeitgenössischen Kontext veröffentlicht. Das zentrale Anliegen der Zeitschrift ist ein internationales Autoren- und Leserpublikum. So erforscht sie das Spannungsfeld zwischen Urbanismus und einer zunehmend globalisierten Welt, in der Städte und Stadtlandschaften kulturelle Vielfalt in unzähligen Facetten widerspiegeln. Urbanogram möchte daher wissenschaftliche Texte und kreative Arbeiten von Autoren zusammentragen, die in ihren Kulturen verwurzelt sind und an einer umfassenden Perspektive auf ihren jeweiligen urbanen Alltag interessiert sind. …
Ania Chorzepa is an architectural designer, builder and teacher with a deep focus on natural materials, particularly earth and fibre. Now based in Germany and balancing her work with motherhood, Ania’s practice centres on building with earth, teaching hands-on workshops and material research. Kaarel Kuusk is an independent rammed earth construction specialist and a spatial designer fascinated by the architectural qualities and the symbolic richness of clay as a building material. In recent years he has contributed to the development of clay building culture at his home - Estonia and in the Baltics by mentoring earth building workshops and designing and building human scale rammed earth interventions. Paige Michutka is an American architectural designer with work experience in the U.S., Germany, and Austria. She is passionate about sustainable, equitable, and innovative design processes that challenge the systems that shape the built environment. Paige is based in Vienna, Austria, and is in the process of completing her Masters of Architecture at the University of Art and Design Linz. Prarthana Murali is an architectural designer from Chennai, India, currently based in Munich, Germany. Through her studio work, hands-on material explorations and research, her core focus has been on building a practice rooted in ecological sensitivity and social responsibility while engaging with the parallels between architecture and indigenous history, heritage and archaeology. Rikunj Shah is an architect working at the intersection of natural materials and contextual design. Deeply interested in indigenous knowledge systems of a place, he has contributed to multiple projects across diverse cultures and geographies.
