Sound Campus 26 – Listening Underground

Der Sound Campus ist ein experimentelles Klang- und Musikformat der Kunstuniversität Linz in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Ars Electronica Center und fungiert als offene Plattform für Studierende, Lehrende und internationale Künstler*innen, um zeitgenössische und unkonventionelle Formen der Klangkunst, im Rahmen des Ars Electronica Festivals, zu präsentieren.
We are thrilled to announce the next edition of Sound Campus, a sound festival within Ars Electronica and Kunstuniversität Linz, taking place between the 8th and 10th of September 2026, at Hauptplatz 6.
Listening Underground
This year's edition, explores the movement beneath the surface. It considers the ongoing, divergent processes, which are felt but not always seen. To submerge opens up new modes of attention and multi-sensory listening in a time/space continuum. Outside of the rule of visibility dictated by social norms, conditions for immersion require political action to exist. This is how they give space to fragility, unexplored expressions and free-form.
Sound Campus-Listening Underground, wonders about intersectional spaces created by sound and different ways to navigate them. For this open call, we invite participants to challenge the notion of listening in individual and collective contexts, spaces of mutual affection and the idea of submergence. We are curious about ongoing artistic processes ready to be shared.
Context Sound Campus
Since 2020, Sound Campus has been a format hosted by the Kunstuniversität Linz, providing an opportunity for students and performers to exchange and share their work with a wider audience. The program is committed to supporting diverse voices in experimental and electronic music.
