2026 Summer Program

Creative Week at the Children’s and Youth Creative University of the University of Arts Linz, in cooperation with the Linz Children’s University

We’ll be part of the Linz Children’s University again in 2026 and are very excited about this great collaboration! Thanks also to the fantastic workshop leaders, without whom our summer program wouldn’t be possible!

This year, we’re offering the following workshops:

Clay: More Than Just a Lump of Dirt

Insights into the World's Oldest Craft

July 13, 2026, 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
12 Pts., children ages 9 to 12
University of Arts Linz, Domgasse
Instructor: Deike Janßen

In an increasingly digital world, we immerse ourselves in the tactile experience: What does clay feel like? How does it respond to the pressure of my hands, and how can I actively shape it into something? We’ll explore these and other fascinating questions in depth. In the professional ceramics studio of the “Sculptural Design/Ceramics” program, you’ll gain insight into the various ways of working with clay, glazing, and firing. Of course, the focus is on actively creating with our hands. A selection of the pieces created will then be fired and can be picked up toward the end of the break.

Please wear clothes that can get dirty and sturdy shoes.

Registration begins May 5, 2026: www.kinderuni-ooe.at/linz

Plaster is a fascinating material that can be used in a variety of ways. When you mix the calcined rock powder with water, it turns into a creamy paste that eventually hardens. In the GIPS Experimental Workshop, you can create to your heart’s content. You can make simple molds out of clay and pour plaster into them, create shapes and figures using plaster bandages, carve and paint plaster pieces, or model with clay in between while your piece is hardening. Come by and give it a try!

Please bring work clothes (old pants, a T-shirt, or an apron), a cardboard box, and a plastic bag to pack up your artwork.

Registration begins May 5, 2026: www.kinderuni-ooe.at/linz

Do you sometimes find a stone that you just have to pick up? Or a small piece of wood that slips into your pocket and ends up coming home with you? Or maybe you have a scrap of fabric that’s far too good to throw away because it feels so nice or has such a great pattern? Come join us in the workshop and be surprised by the stories you can tell with these materials. Dried wood, fabric scraps, feathers, stones, and much more are available for you to create whatever you like. Let your creativity run wild!

Please wear clothes that can get dirty.
