THE FAT BACHELOR STUDY
is a six-semester course in contemporary fashion design.
The world of fashion is in a state of upheaval. In many cases, fashion is becoming a disposable product manufactured under inhumane conditions. The idea of fashion in connection with technology quickly raises questions about privacy or ecology.
Fashion & Technology sees technology as a catalyst for innovative and sustainable design solutions and alternative aesthetic concepts in the spirit of tolerance.
The aim of the course is to prepare students for newly emerging requirements and job profiles in the field of tension between fashion and technology. In the course of the program, a bridge is drawn between modern and traditional technologies. Technology is brought to life for the students through the course's cooperation partners.
Students develop their own fabrics at the Textile Center Haslach, learn how to use the technologies behind wearables at the Center of Mechatronics or present their work at a virtual show during the Ars Electronica Festival.
In addition, an international internship and workshops with experts from the fields of fashion design, photography, styling, PR, performance and technology offer multi-layered insights into current developments in fashion.
