The Interface Cultures Laboratories are situated as a continuation and articulation of the department's pedagogical and artistic methodologies. Those require specific spaces and infrastructure, as well as a team and network of experts, to support students through their processes and experiences. As part of the program opportunities, students will have the chance to access, get trained and build a relationship with this ecosystem of tools and people, and develop their agendas together.
The methodologies and practices developed within those spaces respond to the urgencies of our time, such as ecological and economic collapse, toxic accumulation and technological alienation. Rather than speculating with yet more aesthetically aseptic narratives and practices that continue to escape forward, they propose narratives of entanglement, collaboration, and co-becoming, rethinking the interface as a site of encounter, and fundamentally enjoying the challenge of getting in trouble.
