Is it impossible to start a sustainable fashion brand today?

Fashion & Technology invites you to a talk by Dinie Van den Heuvel.

The industry thrives on stealing form students, young brands and innovations, but leaves them no breathing space to survive independently. Most big houses have performative sustainability in place, and still struggle to survive. Independence at any scale is becoming an anomaly. If this snake is eating its own tail, what is the use of talking sustainability?
Yet, scientists, governments and activists all agree, the only way forward for fashion is with sustainability at the core of any operation. Beyond this contradiction, more and more sustainable fashion founders are warning the next generation. The fashion reality has radically shifted in since 2021, and many founding stories we know would not work today. So is there hope? And what skills set is needed to beat the odds?

Dinie Van den Heuvel is a renowned sustainable fashion expert, educator, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry.
