The amount of textile waste is increasing from year to year. One way of dealing with this is to implement a textile circular economy with the aim of turning old textiles into new ones. However, this still faces many challenges. The lecture provides an insight into the research of the CD Laboratory for Recycling-based Circular Economy at TU Wien and spans the arc from used textile collection to recycling. The composition of used textiles is presented, laboratory approaches to material processing are shown and the challenges along the entire chain are discussed.
