Language courses

If you need to provide proof of German language skills at level B1 (CEFR) before the start of the third semester, we recommend that you attend a German course. People with previous knowledge of German at level A2 have the opportunity to attend courses B 1.1 and B 1.2 at the University of Arts Linz free of charge. Registration is possible via ufgonline.

We can also recommend these external institutes for language courses (fee-paying, all levels):
Volkshochschule Linz
BFI
WIFI
JKU

For self-study, we recommend the "Sprachportal" website of the Austrian Integration Fund. It not only offers free online language courses, but also a wide range of practice materials.

The following German certificates are recognized at the University of Arts Linz: ÖSD, ÖIF, Goethe Institut, telc, DSH.
