Making Visible (Sichtbar gemacht) is a collaborative project between the University of Arts Linz and the Lentos Art Museum Linz that explores the mechanisms of visibility and invisibility in art history. At its core is the research into women artists whose works have remained largely absent from exhibitions and art historical narratives due to historical and structural inequalities. Through extensive work in archives and museum collections, overlooked artistic positions are brought to light and recontextualized within a broader historical framework. The project understands the art historical canon not as a fixed body of knowledge, but as a narrative that can be critically questioned, revised, and expanded. In doing so, it contributes to a more inclusive and equitable understanding of women artists and their artistic legacy.
