Lecture by Yoko Shimizu as part of the Schnittstelle series.

Yoko Shimizu is a Japanese bio-artist and researcher who makes the invisible patterns and intelligences of biological systems visible in projects such as Tides of Light. Through her work, Shimizu aims to promote empathy for the natural world and reshape humanity's relationship with it. Her guest lecture will give us an insight into how art and science come together to make the beauty and fragility of life tangible in a new way.

"Schnittstelle" is an established lecture series of the Department of Visual Communication at the University of Art and Design Linz.

The series brings together artists, designers, curators and authors who create innovative connections between design, photography, art, performance and research in their work. With a focus on interdisciplinary approaches and the intersection of different media and disciplines, the lectures offer exciting insights into creative processes and promote exchange beyond the boundaries of traditional design.
