BestOFF 2025
BestOFF, the juried presentation format of the University of Arts Linz, will once again present selected works by students and graduates. Based on the successful developments of the past years, additional formats will be defined, which in particular correspond to the multifaceted directions of your work, but also offer space for reflection and critique. The exhibition will take place in the exhibition spaces of the University of Arts Linz at Hauptplatz 6 and 8, as well as the splace at Hauptplatz. A catalog will also document the activities surrounding BestOFF.
The curator for BestOFF 2025 is Julia Gutweniger.
Julia Gutweniger works in the fields of painting, drawing/printmaking and film. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Arts Linz from 2007 to 2015. Since 2018, she has been teaching printmaking at the University of Arts Linz; since 2023 senior artist in the Painting & Graphic Art Silk Screen Printing Workshop. Works as a filmmaker and cinematographer in the directing duo Villa Mondeo together with Florian Kofler; Their films have received awards at numerous international film festivals.

Submission deadline: May 15 to June 3, 2025
Jury meeting: mid-June 2025
Opening: November 5, 2025 - 6 p.m.
Duration: until November 18, 2025
Submission information
BestOFF selects and presents works by students and graduates that have been created in the last two years. The selected works are intended to provide an insight into the divergent approaches and broad spectrum of the University of Arts Linz.
All enrolled students of the University of Arts Linz and all graduates who have completed their studies since the summer semester 2024 are eligible to participate.
What should be submitted?
- a project proposal as PDF
- artist statement
- max. 5 images (print quality)
- for film submissions: a download link (for example: Vimeo)
- biography
- a portfolio as PDF
Each submitter can only submit one project. However, several works should be mentioned in the portfolio.
