Let's talk about... regeneration & repair

The format Let's talk about... is conceived as an annual education and discourse series at the Institute for Art and Education of the Department of Art and Design at the University of Art and Design Linz and uses theoretical and practice-oriented inputs to examine the significance of teaching, learning and experimentation in artistic and art education spaces. The lectures and workshops are open to (prospective) art educators, practicing educators and anyone interested in the discourse.
The event is dedicated to questions of renewal and the mindful use of existing resources. Regeneration is understood as an artistic and social attitude that considers materials and temporality in circular contexts and opens up perspectives for sustainable coexistence. Repair expands this approach as a practice of care: repairing becomes a conscious intervention that preserves and changes what already exists and creates new, sustainable relationships between people, materials and the environment.
In view of the enormous escalation of social, ecological and systemic crises, we ask how regeneration and repair can become powerful strategies that enable responsible action and transformation. Keynote speeches, workshops, exhibitions and daily programs invite people to exchange ideas, engage in artistic research and develop shared visions for a future worth living. The ecological and socio-political dimensions of design issues will also be discussed.
Exhibition: HELLO EARTH
Parallel to Let's talk about... regeneration & repair , the accompanying exhibition format HELLO ERDE itself becomes a field of experimentation. What becomes visible is not a finished end state, but a process - an open laboratory for regenerative cycles. The focus is on transformative actions rather than isolated objects: Materials are questioned together, natural colors are tested and tools are rethought. The exhibition space becomes an open field for thinking, reworking, repairing and reusing. The opening will take place as part of the LONG NIGHT OF RESEARCH on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 5 pm.
