The University of Arts Linz, with 1,400 students from 60 countries, is an international university with state-of-the-art facilities located in the centre of the city. It operates in the dynamic field of tension between independent, artistic, and applied, business-oriented design as well as research. The focus is on interactivity, digitalisation, sustainability, and interdisciplinary, practice-oriented work. The courses offered at the four institutes – Fine Arts and Cultural Studies, Art and Education (teacher training), Media, and Space and Design – comprise 12 bachelor’s programmes, 14 master’s programmes, one diploma programme, and one PhD programme.
In the newly established Department of Design Research and Design Theory, the position of a University Assistant for Design Research and Design Theory will become available as of 1 October 2025. The position will focus on teaching design theory, developing research projects, as well as administrative duties related to academic programmes and participation in university committees. The position is part-time (50%) for a period of 5 years. In accordance with Section 49 of the collective bargaining agreement, the University of Arts Linz pays university assistants a minimum monthly salary of €1,857.40 (before tax and deductions) – 14 times per year.
