Eponyms are designations derived from proper names to honor certain people. Many medical eponyms can be traced back to doctors who conducted their research during the Second World War in an unethical manner by means of human experimentation and euthanasia. Hanna Sheu is an artist and physician - with her spatial installation, she brings eponyms into the focus of critical observation.
Biography - Hanna Sheu, born in Korea in 1970, has lived in Austria since 1980 and studied human medicine and public health. Her scientific background is the basis of her art. She is currently studying Experimental Design at the University of Art and Design Linz.
The work Eponym Blind was shown in the exhibition BestOFF 2024 at Kunstraum Memphis.
