Sound installation (2 min) in the public sewer system, sewer grate
A roar from the deepest depths of the sewage system penetrates to the surface, entering public space. A sound recording of the artist’s own voice forms the basis of the audio installation. The recording has been digitally processed and distorted, the sound distended and transferred to a low-frequency hum.
In Magdalena Berger’s expansive and subversive installations, physicality and identity play central roles: latex, red wine, motors, video, and sound are some of the frequently used elements.
