The film establishes a connection between physicality and the medium of film. The filmstrip becomes just as much a physically present protagonist as the recordings of a human body that are shown. Both are exposed to light shining on or through them.
The filmmaker Çağla Gillis explores women’s experiences, everyday life, the superhuman world, and imaginary topographies in her works, and in doing so combines her personal experiences with sociopolitical movements.
The work Different/Same/Both/Neither was presented as part of the exhibition BestOFF 2024 exhibition.
