Simurgh is a mythical creature from Persian mythology that inspired the filmmaker to create this short film. The story of Simurgh and the journey of the birds in search of a righteous king is a timeless allegory of the search for freedom and self-discovery—themes that play a major role in the context of immigration. Simurgh is one of thirteen short films in a series dealing with the topic of immigration.
In addition to his films, Ebrahim Eskandari’s artistic oeuvre includes painting and sculpture. He has created sculptures in public spaces in Tehran, and his works are frequently shown in international exhibitions.
The work Simurgh was presented as part of the exhibition BestOFF 2024 exhibition.
