Extensions of a study abroad semester from the winter to the summer semester can be funded.
Extensions from the summer to the winter semester are only possible as a "Zero Grant".

FUNDING

• Funding scope: full or partial
• Allocation criteria: available budget, number of requests, "first come, first served"
• "Zero Grant" means the Erasmus status is retained, but no mobility grant is paid out.

REQUIREMENTS

• It must be checked whether an extension is possible. In each study cycle, there is the opportunity to spend up to 12 months abroad as part of the exchange programs we offer.
• Approval from the partner university
• Approval from the study administration
• Your stay must be uninterrupted. This means that semester breaks are also considered part of your Erasmus stay.
• You must earn at least 3 ECTS per month abroad for the entire duration of your stay (e.g., winter semester + semester break + summer semester).
• A new Learning Agreement is required for the extension.

Please note that the extension is only possible if all the above steps and deadlines are met.

The application must be completed no later than one month before the end of your current stay. A link to the online application will be provided to you by the International Office.

WHAT ELSE NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED?

• Health insurance
• Visa (if applicable)
• ÖH fee for the extension semester
• IPS scholarship from the state of Upper Austria (if applicable)

STUDENTS RECEIVING STUDY GRANTS

• The study abroad grant from the Study Grant Authority can continue to be received during the extension.
• The application for the extension must include a copy of the Learning Agreement and the pre-approval (only for thesis work).
