Victoria Vesna

Victoria Vesna, Ph.D., is an artist and professor in the UCLA Department of Design | Media Arts and Director of the Art|Sci Center at the School of the Arts and the California Nanosystems Institute (CNSI). Through her installations, she investigates how communication technologies influence collective behavior and how perceptions of identity change in relation to scientific innovation (Ph.D., University of Wales, 2000). Her work involves long-term collaborations with composers, nanoscientists, neuroscientists, and evolutionary biologists, and she shares this experience with her students. She is the North American editor of *AI & Society*. In 2007, she published an edited volume, *Database Aesthetics: Art in the Age of Information Overflow*, and another in 2011, *Context Providers: Conditions of Meaning in Media Arts*.
