The BIOFABRIQUE VIENNA - WIENER FARBENexhibition, curated by Ute Ploier, Head of the Fashion & Technology degree program, is dedicated to the diversity of bioregional pigments, presents initial research results and invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of natural coloring.
With a focus on regenerative and regional value creation, the project initiated by the Vienna Business Agency is dedicated to the research and application of dyes made from previously unused organic residues - for example from food production: seeds, leaf green and other components that are not consumable for humans as well as invasive plants are transformed into the raw material for new, authentic Viennese colors.
The aim of the project is to create an aesthetically and ecologically convincing alternative to synthetic dyes and globally standardized colour concepts.
The project is scientifically supported by experts from the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Vienna University of Technology and the Department of Fashion & Technology at the University of Art and Design Linz.
