Installation, 200 x 80 x 70 cm
In this installation, Katya Ovechkina reveals her daily notes, which go far beyond a classic diary. These visual and linguistic reflections on everyday life have been a part of the artist’s practice for twenty years. The drawings, handwritten texts, found items, objects, and notebooks, which the artist has either opened for viewing or left closed, combine to form an assemblage. This produces open questions for the viewer, which emerge in the simultaneity of showing and concealing.
Katya Ovechkina deals with the themes of care, trauma, and life’s fragility. She studies painting and graphic art at the University of Arts Linz, where she experiments with various media. Her works have been shown frequently at art spaces internationally.
The work For each treasured, happy memory, like a sweet forget-me-not was shown as part of the BestOFF 2024 exhibition.
