Beitrag minimaler Sicherheit deals with things that are unnoticed yet have always been there: forgotten, lost, discarded objects from the human world that no longer have any meaning. The transformed, solidified packaging material for venetian blinds, protected by the solidified cardboard packaging, takes on a value of its own through its sacred preservation. The object and its seemingly protective packaging become a projection surface for contents and memory, and a reflection of supposed worthlessness.
Sonnhild Essl (1989, Baiersbronn, Germany) deals with the incidental and omnipresent in her sculptural work—the “discarded.” She received the EnergieAG Linz Talentförderpreis award in 2022.
The work Beitrag minimaler Sicherheit was shown as part of the exhibition BestOFF 2024
