REQUIREMENTS

• It must be verified whether an extension is possible. In each study cycle, it is possible to spend up to 12 months abroad as part of the exchange programs we offer.
• The possible duration of an extension will be assessed based on available budgetary resources and other criteria, such as the number of previous stays abroad or the home country (lowest priority).
• Approval from the internship provider
• Approval from the study administration
• Your stay must be continuous: The extension period must directly follow your current stay.
• Fulfillment of ECTS requirements (only for mandatory internships): You must be able to provide proof of at least 3 ECTS per month abroad for the entire duration of your stay.
• For the extension of a mandatory internship, a new Learning Agreement for Internships is required; for other types of internships, only if necessary.

Please note that the extension is only possible if all the above steps and deadlines are adhered to.

The application must be completed no later than one month before the end of your current stay. A link to the online application will be provided to you by the International Office.

WHAT ELSE NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED?

• Health insurance
• Visa (if applicable)
• ÖH fee for the extension semester
• IPS scholarship from the state of Upper Austria (if applicable)

STUDENTS RECEIVING STUDY GRANTS

• The study abroad grant from the Study Grant Authority can continue to be received during the extension.
• The application for the extension must include a copy of the Learning Agreement.
