Echoes of the Dancefloor is told from the perspective of a long night in two Berlin clubs. The dissertation examines the historical and political developments of techno as well as artistic echoes of rave and the dancefloor. Through selected works, the aesthetic and resistant potentials of the dancefloor are made visible, and its reciprocal relationship to art is highlighted. Particular attention is given to the Afrofuturist dimension of Detroit techno. The dancefloor is described as a cultural, aesthetic, and political space that must be continually reconstituted.
