The literary writing laboratory of the Office for Useful Fictions offers a small all-round encounter with professional literary writing. The students' own work is initially inspired by experiences with literary works from the tradition. The spectrum of exploration ranges from visual texts of the Baroque period to the manifestos of cannibalistic literature in Brazil, the linguistic images of surrealism and the works of contemporary sound poets. Students analyze how the language arts of the past dealt with different materials and how they work today. Feedback and editing allow the beginnings of their own poetics to become visible in the course of the subsequent writing experiments. When the texts and scores finally meet their own critical ear again in the course of performances from outside, adjustments and reorientations often take place. For the realization of the texts, we often meet unfamiliar audiences. We perform at the Institut Schön für besondere Menschen in Micheldorf, just as we perform together with composition students from Graz at such a professionally used venue as the Mumuth there.
