Here and There. Artistic encounters with complex terrain.

Beginn des PhD-Programms / Start of the PhD-Program: WS 2025

Betreuung / Supervision:
Andrea Curtoni, Giulia Mazzorin

This artistic PhD research project examines human-environment relationships in transformed landscapes, with a focus on the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug in Western Siberia. This region, characterized by Indigenous ways of life, large-scale extractive industries and vast forests area - serves as a lens through which the complex interplay between traditional ecological land-use and industrial influence is studied. Drawing on my personal connection to the land, the research employs a combination of fieldwork, narrative interviews and artistic practice to explore the site-related experiences of the Khanty communities within a complex terrain shaped by traditional land-uses and industrial activities.
