The artist and philosopher Kilian Jörg will be giving a lecture series in the summer semester of 2026 as part of the study focus "Plastik & Environment".

Following the flow, listening to the water: theories around liquid ecologies

In this course we will investigate and build theories around the liquid ecologies in and around is. Water is the essential flow of life and connecting all organisms (and many other beings) on this planet. A philosophy of water and flows is thus essential to any ecological understanding of our planetary situation.

What does it mean to think of your and every other body as connected by common flows? How could a political imaginary be refurbished by distinguishing regions by watersheds? How are bodies of water connecting us and how are the separating us? What is behind the modern will to channel and regulate flows, be in through damns, channels or waste water management? What makes people (particularly so called “men”) afraid of flows and fluids, as common theories of fascism state?

Learning with the Action: Geosoziale Spekulationen im Bergschlösslpark (2 SWS)

A long term ecological occupation / climate camp is taking place in Linz at the Bergschlösslpark and this semesters’ activism class of Plastic&Environment will engage with this local action in the sense of mutual inspiration and empowerment! In this class, we will think, study and enact what we can learn from the ongoing struggle against the A26 highway creating yet an other line of ecological devastation right through the city center of Linz. In seminar- and workshop-like situations we will reflect on how we – as artists and cultural producers – can participate creatively in the struggle.
